Founded in 1899 at the suggestion of the then Prince of Wales - later to become King Edward VII - it was originally sited at the house of his reputed mistress Agnes Keyser at 17 Grosvenor Crescent close to Hyde Park Corner.
Most senior members of the Royal Family have undergone some form of treatment for a variety of ailments down the years, valuing its discreet privacy and central London location.
The late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was famously treated there in November 1982 after a fish bone became lodged in her throat. She also underwent two successful hip replacement operations at the hospital in her advancing years.
