Katie Couric Dips for the Queen at Garden Party - Two Hour Diamond Jubilee Specials Airs Tuesday, May 29th on ABC

To curtsy or not to curtsy, that was the question for ABC's Katie Couric when she met Queen Elizabeth II (and 8,000 other guests) at the first garden party of the summer at Buckingham Palace this week.

Beforehand, Couric says, she was nervous, went back and forth, but finally decided to do a little dip (which is not required for non-British) as a matter of respect and protocol. Then she got a fast lesson from protocol officials in how to dip but not too deep.

"I haven't curtsied since my piano recital in sixth grade!" All this will be featured on Couric's two-hour Diamond Jubilee special on the queen airing on ABC on May 29, which includes rare interviews with Prince William and Prince Harry.
