The Today Show got the scoop!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are the proud parents of a months-old pooch, and rumors they adopted a chocolate Labrador retriever are false, the palace confirmed to TODAY.com: It's a cocker spaniel.

Though they won't release the name (or discuss why the couple chose a cocker, though the U.K.'s Express reports the breed is a Middleton family favorite), the royals' spokeswoman said the male pup came from a litter through a "family connection." Prince Charles Unveils Dumfries House Homes: architecturaldigest.com

Several years ago, a major drama unfolded in Great Britan when Dumfries House, one of the most significant and beautiful historic properties in the Commonwealth, teetered on the verge of sale and dispersal. The 18th-century Palladian villa in Ayrshire, Scotland, is a seminal work of renowned architect Robert Adam and his brothers, John and James; it contains a world-class collection of British Rococo furniture, including some 50 examples from a fledgling cabinetmaker named Thomas Chippendale. Ordered straight from the craftsman’s workshop in 1759 by the fifth Earl of Dumfries, who commissioned the house and took up residence there the following year, the furnishings now form part of a magnificent ensemble that embodies, in the words of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, “British craftsmanship at its best.”

It seems Prince William gave his wife, Kate Middleton, a puppy for her 30th birthday last week. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been spotted out around their Wales cottage with a small black Labrador. Click link for full post from ABCNews.

William and Kate's Royal Gifts

During Kate and William’s inaugural foreign tour of Canada and the U.S. in July, the Duchess received more than 150 official gifts on behalf of the Queen from dignitaries and members of the public.

Kate and William were given a gift each by the premier of the Northwest Territories while visiting the town of Yellowknife. These trinkets were modestly listed by the couple’s office as ‘brooch’ and ‘pair of cufflinks’.

But both were made from platinum, studded with diamond pave and specially commissioned from world-renowned jeweller Harry Winston, a favourite of A-list stars.

A murder mystery with elements of an Agatha Christie whodunit is unfolding at the vast country estate where Queen Elizabeth II and her family gathered in rural splendor to celebrate Christmas and New Year's. British police said that a young woman's body was found in the forest at Sandringham and that they are treating it as a murder case.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday, but the precise cause of death was not disclosed, and investigators have yet to establish the woman's identity.

The royal family is not implicated in the crime in any way.
