First opened to tourists in Victorian times, Kensington Palace has long been a collection of flats for royal relatives — the Duke of Windsor used to call it ‘the Aunt Heap’ — alongside public state apartments.

Now it has not merely been given a new lick of paint. Whole sections have been unveiled for the first time. More spectacularly, the grounds have been opened out and, from this morning, the public can wander into a royal palace without a ticket, to buy a cup of tea or a postcard.

Once inside, they will be steered towards one of the grandest ticket offices in the land, a covered courtyard decked out like a multi-storey four-poster bed.   Read Full Post From DAILYMAIL

Kate "Borrows" Mum's Dress for Speech Debut

The Duchess of Cambridge was the picture of elegance in a pretty purple dress as she gave her first public speech at The Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich.

But keen-eyed onlookers noted that they had seen the outfit, by High Street label Reiss, before.

The dress - from the company's Autumn/Winter 2008 collection - had previously been debuted by Kate's mother, Carole Middleton, at Ascot in 2010.

When Carole wore the same outfit, she also teamed it with black courts and a belt, but in addition chose to wear a fascinator to the equestrian event.

The Duchess' address, delivered in a steady, unfaltering voice, was a resounding success.
It was several weeks in the making, and written entirely by Kate herself.Click link for full post from HelloMagazine.com

Royal Faux Pas? Camilla Dons Diana’s Jewels

Royal accessories have a habit of staying in the family, as Kate's engagement ring shows. But it's less common for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, wife of Prince Charles, to wear Diana's former jewels. That is until this week, when Camilla stepped out in one of Diana’s diamond brooches for a date at the races.

The piece was first given to Princess Alexandra as a wedding gift when she married the Prince of Wales in 1863. It stayed in the family, and was passed down generation after generation, until the Queen Mother eventually gave it to Diana as a wedding gift.

"The Duchess of Cornwall wore it to Cheltenham as she was presenting the Queen Mother Cup for one of the races. As it once belonged to the Queen Mother, she felt it was appropriate to wear," the palace told TODAY.com.
